RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - It is a favorite of North Carolinians, and now the town of Beaufort is getting recognition from a national magazine as tops for town with fewer than 50,000 residents.
Travel + Leisure readers voted Beaufort #1 for all its offerings, according to the state Commerce Department's NC NewsLink publication.
"With its quaint, tree-lined downtown and colorful history – populated with plenty of fishermen and even a fair share of pirates – this Inner Banks town won the survey thanks to its heavyweight small-town charm," the article said.
Readers gave Beaufort high marks as both a relaxing and a romantic destination.
