RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - If the incidence of confirmed rabies continues at the current rate, Orange County is on pace to double the number of cases reported for each of the past two years.

This week the county recorded its 20th case of 2014. That is well past the 12 cases confirmed in 2013 and 2012.

The latest incident occurred in the town of Efland.

The case was confirmed by the North Carolina State Laboratory of Public Health.
