Carteret County Justice To Take Seat On State Ethics Commission PDF Print E-mail

RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - He served for eight years on the North Carolina Supreme Court, and now Carteret County's George Wainwright Jr. has been tapped for a seat on the state Ethics Commission.

 
The announcement came from Gov. Pat McCrory's office on Wednesday.
 
Justice Wainwright has distinguished himself as being the only person to have served on both the district and superior court levels and the supreme court. He is a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard and a longstanding member of the N.C. Bar Association.
 
The duties of the commission are to establish ethical standards for certain public officials, state employees and appointees to nonadvisory state boards and commissions; to require public disclosure of economic interests by certain persons in the executive, legislative and judicial branches and to amend the lobbying laws. The term length is four years.
