RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Wake County District Court Judge Ned Mangum has a new job. He has been tapped to replace retiring Wake County District Attorney Colon Willoughby, who leaves the office March 31.

Mangum will serve the rest of Willoughby's term, which expires January 1, 2015. The person who wins the November 2014 election for the seat will assume the office in 2015.

Gov. Pat McCrory made the appointment.

“Judge Ned Mangum will have some big shoes to fill, but we have no doubt that he will serve the people of North Carolina and Wake County very well," said the governor in a statement. "I look forward to watching Ned serve with honor, dignity and the highest of ethical standards.”
