The StarNews of Wilmington reported that commissioners will meet Monday to discuss the project because the county and the Corps of Engineers are beginning a new round of dredging. The inlet is located between Figure Eight Island and Wrightsville Beach.

 

The 2020 project was a success, rescuing Shell Island Resort and other properties. The inlet was relocated about 3,000 feet to the north.

 

Engineers say dredging can occur from November to March. Costs are expected to be about $2 million. The more than 1,000 property owners on Figure Eight and Wrightsville Beach pay the costs.
