FAYETTEVILLE, (AP) — Commemorative brass coins marking Fayetteville's 250th anniversary are on sale to help raise money for a flag pole and marker.

The Fayetteville Observer reports that a limited number of coins have gone on sale for $75 apiece. They will be numbered 1 through 250, will come in branded wooden boxes and include certificates of authenticity.

City historic properties manager Bruce Daws said the proceeds will be used to erect an historic-looking flag pole with a marker in front of the former Henry Fleishman Clothing store on Person Street, across from the Market House.
Daws said the city will keep a record of who buys which coins.

Fayetteville has issued commemorative coins two other times, in 1889 and 1939, to recognize anniversaries for the state's ratification of the U.S. Constitution.
