RALEIGH, (AP) — The General Assembly's decision to authorize fracking in North Carolina over Gov. Beverly Perdue's objections has led an environmental group to rescind its award to a House member who voted to override Perdue's veto.

The North Carolina League of Conservation Voters announced Tuesday it would ask Rep. Susi Hamilton of Wilmington to return her "Rising Star" award. The first-term Democrat had been honored for her pro-environmental record.

Hamilton didn't immediately respond to messages seeking comment. She told the StarNews of Wilmington she was assured by Republican lawmakers they would not rush required regulations before the first permits can be issued.

Another House Democrat, Rep. Becky Carney of Charlotte, said she mistakenly voted to override. Her vote appeared to secure the override. House rules prevented her from changing her vote.
