RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Federal workers in Virginia Beach, Virginia and Burlington, Vermont have been recommended for higher pay than federal workers in other locations. The Federal Salary Council must still finalize adding the two cities to the list, which now sits at 47 and would expand to 49 if the two cities are added.

The locality list is part of the federal government's effort to keep quality employees in the federal workforce rather than losing them to the private sector, where the job is paid more.

Federal workers will receive a 1 percent pay raise effective January 1, 2016.
