RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - The Air Force has selected
Seymour Johnson Air Force Base over three other alternatives as the location for the first Reserve-led KC-46A Pegasus Air Refueling Squadron.

North Carolina beat out bases in Oklahoma, Indiana, and Massachusetts.

“The Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve are vital to accomplishing our air refueling mission. Therefore, the ability to recruit for and maintain a strong Reserve component association was a major consideration in this basing action," said Secretary of the Air Force Deborah Lee James in a statement released by Gov. Pat McCrory.

Boeing manufactures the KC-46, which is a wide body tanker used to refuel aircraft.

The aircraft are expected at Seymour Johnson in 2019.
