RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Letters are going out by the thousands to victims of the Office of Personnel Management's data breach. The agency tells Federal News Radio that 3.7 letters have been mailed and, all told, 10 million will be mailed by the middle of next month.
More than double that were victims of the breach, in which personal data -- including, in some cases, fingerprints -- were stolen in a hack of the human resources database.
Those impacted were people applying for security clearances or who were the subject of a background investigation, or who were listed on someone's application as a reference.
