RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - The FBI is conducting an inquiry into the real estate firm operated by Rep. Robert Pittinger before he left the company to take his seat in Congress.

WCNC out of Charlotte reports the inquiry is underway and that Rep. Pittinger has confirmed it.

The company in question is Pittenger Land Investments.

Pittinger told the TV station he doesn't know why the FBI is looking into the business.

Pittinger, a Republican, took his seat in January 2013. He represents the 9th congressional district.
