RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - The storied Abrams family tradition continues as Gen. Robert Abrams sets to take command of U.S. Army forces, a job based at Ft. Bragg.

Abrams will be responsible for the training and deployment of more than 800,000 active and reserve soldiers. He replaces Gen. Mark Milley, who has been appointed to the Joint Chiefs of Staff in Washington D.C.

Abrams is the son of former Army Chief of Staff Creighton Abrams, for whom the M1 tank is named.

Gen. Robert Abrams is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy.
