RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Marine Gen. Joseph Dunford Jr. will have a new job after just seven months as Commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps. The Associated Press reports that President Obama will formally nominate the seasoned military professional as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

The official announcement is expected Tuesday.

Dunford must be confirmed the U.S. Senate to replace Army General Martin Dempsey.
