RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - U.S. Court of Appeals Judge Allyson Duncan has a new gig. Duncan, of Raleigh, will serve a two-year term as president of the Federal Judges Association.
The group represents more than 1,000 judges. Its website states:
"The Federal Judges Association (FJA) is a national voluntary organization of United States federal judges, appointed pursuant to Article III of the Constitution, whose mission is to support and enhance the role of its members within a fair, impartial and independent judiciary; to actively build a community of interest among its members; and to sustain our system of justice through civics education and public outreach."
Duncan has been on the federal bench for more than a decade, having been nominated in 2003 by former President Bush.
Duncan holds a law degree from Duke. She was a member of the state Court of Appeals before moving up to the federal bench.
