RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - North Carolina public school teachers are likely to see a raise in this year's budget if comments from the governor and key legislators are any indication of what's ahead.

The General Assembly reconvenes Monday night to adjust the state operating budget for the fiscal year that begins July 1.

Gov. Pat McCrory's announced priorities including raising average teacher pay to $50,000. Early career teachers have already received a boost. No teacher in North Carolina is paid less than $35,000 per year.

Senate Leader Phil Berger (R-Rockingham) has also said there will be discussion of teacher pay raises.
