RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - In a 174 to 29 vote, non-tenure track faculty voted to unionize, joining colleagues at universities such as Georgetown and Tufts.

The effort was fueled by a group called Duke Teaching First, according to the Raleigh News & Observer.

The adjunct faculty will join the powerful SEIU -- Service Employees International Union. The goal is higher pay and benefits, as well as job security.
