RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Henry Frye, the first African-American to serve on North Carolina's Supreme Court will deliver Baccaluaureate remarks to the 2016 graduating class of Elon University.

Graduation takes place May 26 in Elon.
 
Justice Frye was also the first African American elected to the North Carolina House of Representatives in the 20th century. He will also receive an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters.

Frye is a founding member of the Board of Advisors for Elon University School of Law. He served 14 years in the General Assembly. In 1999, then Gov. Jim Hunt appointed him Chief Justice of the state's highest court.
