RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - She was hired little more than year ago to address key problems at Elizabeth City State University (ECSU), but on Monday Chancellor Stacey Franklin Jones said she is leaving.

The chancellor's last day will be Dec. 31. There is no official word on why she is leaving.

An interim chancellor will run the operation until a successor can be found. Thomas Conway, who is with Fayetteville State University, will be the interim leader, according to WRAL.

ECSU's enrollment is down dramatically, and that has put the university in the spotlight with state lawmakers.
