RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - The commission charged with reviewing the controversial Common Core education standards has issued a report with recommendations for English and Math.

Those who oppose the standards adopted by 44 states, including North Carolina, had pushed for a full repeal. Supporters have said the standards increase the rigor required.

The group recommended changes to the English Language Arts standards but opted to stick with the Math standards.

The recommendations now go to the State Board of Education.
