RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Former U.S. Education Secretary Margaret Spellings is heading to North Carolina where she will lead the UNC System, replacing Tom Ross.

Spellings received a unanimous vote of the UNC Board of Governors on Friday.

She is currently the president of the George W. Bush Presidential Center and served her term as education secretary for President Bush.

Spellings will be paid a base salary of $775,000 at UNC, plus other compensation that reportedly includes a retirement plan and up to $35,000 for relocating to North Carolina.
