RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Catherine L. Truitt has been selected by Gov. Pat McCrory to be his Senior Education Advisor. She replaces Eric Guickan.

Truitt comes to the position from the International Center for Leadership in Education where she worked as a school district turnaround coach centered on rigor, relevance, and relationship building.

“Catherine Truitt’s passion and focus is in the classroom,” the governor said in a statement. “The diversity of her teaching experience will help us to build on the progress we’ve made to ensure every North Carolina student is equipped with the skills they need to begin a career or further their education.”

Truitt has taught English Literature and Media Studies at Uxbridge College Academy in London. Truitt was also a co-founder and served as Curriculum Director for Ridge Academy, a private, parent-founded elementary school.
