RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Parents and teachers in Beaufort, Charlotte/Mecklenburg, and Wilson counties are celebrating after learning a school in each county has been awarded a national blue ribbon by U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan.

-- Chocowinity Primary, Beaufort County Schools

--Beverly Woods Elementary, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools

-- Rock Ridge Elementary, Wilson County Schools.


State Superintendent of Public Instruction June Atkinson said in a statement that it is gratifying to have the schools recognized for their efforts at excellence.

Nearly 300 public and private schools across the country have received the honor.
