RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Saying that arts education is an "essential ingredient" of education, Gov. Pat McCrory has designated Sept. 13-19 Arts in Education week in North Carolina.
The governor, who holds a teaching degree, said in a statement that learning about art is important for a variety of reasons, some related to professional development, others to personal knowledge.
“To succeed in today’s economy, students must master traits that business leaders demand, such as critical thinking, problem-solving skills, creativity and collaboration."
The proclamation is part of the National Arts in Education Week organized by Americans for the Arts.
