RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - The State Board of Education will meet Thursday, July 9, via conference call. The published agenda is below:

9 a.m.
Call to order, roll call to determine quorum, then approval of July Board agenda and draft minutes from June 3-4 Board meeting and June 26 Board conference call.

 9:05 – 9:10 a.m.
The following Consent Agenda items are up for Board approval: replacement of Compliance Commission member, State Advisory Council on Indian Education membership recommendations, Governor’s School Board of Governors recommendations, reports from the Advisory Councils for the Residential Schools for the Deaf and the Blind, Report to the Joint Legislative Education Oversight Committee on Public School Procurement of Information Technology, voluntary relinquishment of Carolina STEM Academy charter, new licensure areas for Institutions of Higher Education programs: blue print approvals, and concussion safety requirements for interscholastic athletic competition.

 9:10 – 10:15 a.m.

Action items: Task Force on Summative Assessment Final Report and Recommendations, North Carolina Department of Public Instruction Proof of Concept Study, Field Testing for the 2015-16 School Year, and Assessment Report to the Joint Legislative Education Oversight Committee (2014-78, SB 812, sec. 5)

 

On the Board’s Information Agenda is a discussion of Piedmont Classical Charter High School’s request for a decreased initial allotment. This will be followed by a report from State Superintendent June Atkinson that will include a budget update from Chief Financial Officer Philip Price. Chairman Bill Cobey will conclude the meeting with his comments followed by a discussion of any new and old business.
