RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - The state's community college system is alerting the public to mailings that use the system's address but are not from the state.

In a "Fraud Warning" alert banner across their website, the message reads:

FRAUD WARNING:  Counterfeit checks are being mailed across the country using the NC Community College System Office mailing address on the envelope.  These are not NC Community College System Office mailings.  Please exercise caution regarding responding to the contents of these mailings.  If you receive one of these mailings please report it to the United States Postal Inspection Service, 877-876-2455 FREE, https://postalinspectors.uspis.gov (link is external).
