RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - From obstacle courses to precision turns and knowledge of safety, North Carolina public school bus drivers are expected to know it all. 

 
This week they showed off their skills in a competition that led to the crowning of Eric Turner of Herford County as the #1 driver in our state.Turner received a $500 cash prize and a trip to represent the state in the national school bus driving competition to be held this summer in Charleston.
 
Forty-three drivers took part in the competition held at the State Fairgrounds in Raleigh.
 
The other top nine drivers in order of finish from 2nd to 10th place are below. The 2nd through 5th place finishers received $400, $300, $200 and $100, respectively. Sixth through 10th place finishers won $50.
