RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - Following are the web highlights identified by the Department of Public Instruction for the week of February 28, 2014.

1. Home Base Weekly Project Status Provides Current Update on Home Base Systems
 
A new page has been added to the Home Base website that provides an extensive overview of the status for each component that makes up Home Base. Future updates, weekly performance indicators and a professional development schedule also are available. This page is updated weekly to provide stakeholders with the most current information about Home Base project. 2. Second-Semester and Year-Long Roster Verification Windows Open in April 
 
Based on feedback from teachers, administrators and central office leaders, the NCDPI will hold two roster verification windows during the 2013-14 school year. An announcement regarding the dates for the verification windows and who participates, is available on the Educator Effectiveness website at http://www.ncpublicschools.org/effectiveness-model/roster/. Roster Verification is a way for teachers to verify  their class rosters and allows schools and teachers to indicate when there are multiple professionals sharing responsibility for a student's instruction.
 
 
3. Give Five-Read Five Program Helps Students Maintain Reading Skills
 
The NCDPI is sponsoring the Give Five-Read Five campaign again this spring to provide students with at least five books to take home and read over the summer. To learn more about this program, which helped schools collect over 120,000 books last year for North Carolina elementary school students, please visit http://www.ncpublicschools.org/give5read5/.
 
 
4. Innovative Programs Featured in "Celebrate NC Schools" 
 
Read how Perquiman's Central School used Nooks to encourage summer reading for a group of rising second-grade students in this month's feature of "Celebrate NC Schools" at   http://www.ncpublicschools.org/celebrate/feature/. "Celebrate NC Schools" highlights innovative programs in North Carolina Schools that are making a positive difference for  teachers and students. 
 
 
5. Race to the Top Updates Highlight Latest Program News
