RALEIGH, (SGRToday.com) - A new poll of U.S. adults shows skepticism is rampant over the accuracy and focus of information published in school textbooks.

The Rasmussen polling firm says 54 percent of adults told surveyors they think textbooks focus more on political correctness than accuracy of information. Just 22 percent believe the opposite -- that textbooks put accuracy above political correctness. Another 24 percent aren't sure.

The exact question read:

"Are most school textbooks more concerned about accurately providing information or about presenting information in a politically correct manner?"

The survey was conducted August 9-10 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
