Dr. Tony Habit, president of the New Schools Project in North Carolina, tells host Barlow Herget that his research team finds that well trained teachers as in Finland and Singapore are key to improving public education and he notes that money for such professional development has been cut from the state budget.  His group's focus on high schools has showed the achievement gap between black and Hispanic students and white and Asian-American students can be overcome.
